Tentacles

Watercolor painting of a bigfin reef squid, broadclub cuttlefish, giant pacific octopus and a chambered nautilus. This piece was inspired by the “tentacles” exhibition in the Monterey Bay aquarium. It’s truly remarkable to see how these cephalopods developed such unique body form and the ability to quickly change colors and patterns.

The peice was featured as the poster image for “Illustrating Nature” the sixth annual exhibit of work by students in the California State University, Monterey Bay Science Illustration Program. It was also featured in Focus On Nature IX exhibition in 2017 and received the FON IX JURIED AWARD.
